Asia's Top ICT Organizations Named at the CIO Summit in Singapore Organized by IDC and FBM

Singapore-based projects have taken four of this year’s edition of the annual IT Excellence Awards (ITX). ITX is one of Asia’s leading recognition programs for the most progressive and effective enterprise IT deployments, and is this year for the first time co-managed by analyst firm IDC Asia/Pacific and the publisher of MIS Asia Fairfax Business Media Asia (FBM Asia).

The Singapore winners were the Changi Airport Group, Ministry of Education, SAP Asia and Singapore Prison Service. The other winners were CIMB Bank (Malaysia), Melco Crown Entertainment (Macau) and Watsons China.

The project-based awards were presented at the CIO Summit and IT Excellence Awards 2012 event in Singapore today. More than 100 finalist entries from government agencies and leading players in the financial services, manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods and transportation industries were gathered from China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

ITX project leader and MIS Asia magazine Editor, Teng Fang Yih, said: “This year we saw an even more competitive batch of nominations than in previous years. That made putting together the finalist lineup very difficult, and deciding on the eventual seven winners nearly impossible. I can assure you that every single one of the 38 finalists deserve recognition too, not just for their efforts on the job but also for the value they derived for their respective organizations. In the end, of course, the ITX 2012 winners demonstrated just that bit of genius in project management and delivered just that little more of strategic value that established themselves as deserving candidates for the awards.”

“This award not only acknowledges the individual contribution of the CIO while applauding the management team for having the foresight to go where few have gone before, it also calls out the judicious use of resources across the entire enterprise as well as rewards the contribution of the entire IS/IT team in delivering the most effective technology and information delivery models to their business users. The combined efforts of IDC and FBM have produced a truly unique award,” said Eva Au, Managing Director, IDC Asia/Pacific.

The winners were chosen by an expert panel of independent judges, including members of the CIO, other senior ICT management and analyst communities, in a process that lasted several months. Judges took into account factors such as project execution, alignment with the business and measurable results.
