Game, Set and Match for phpFox Powered Social Network

Based on the Chesterfield and Sheffield border in the UK, Perceptant101, a website design and web development company, has unveiled a new Global Social Network that connects tennis fans and players from around the Globe.

Perceptant101 (www.perceptant101.com), an award winning digital interactive agency specialising in website design, web development and SEO, today announced a new Global Social Network for the Tennis Community.

Based on phpFox, the social network is the brainchild of Max Hastings, Head of Junior Tennis at the world famous Queens Club in London.

Including many of the features found in Facebook and MySpace, Social Tennis Networking (www.socialtennisnetworking.com) connects players and fans around the World and includes everything for an interactive tennis community, from breaking news, player Twitter feeds and video to tournament updates, live scores and training tips.

Harnessing the phpFox social network platform, Perceptant 101 developed the Social Tennis Networking site, creating a unique theme for the community that fitted well with the client’s branding. It integrated news feeds from the ATP World Tour news site, as well as live scores for all the ATP World Tour tournaments and Twitter updates from players. Google Maps API was also integrated into the site, so members can search a world map to find other tennis fans and players, and arrange to meet up and play a match.

Built by Perceptant101 and its team of web developers and website designers based in between Chesterfield and Sheffield on the Yorkshire and Derbyshire border in the UK, Social Tennis Networking has already attracted a community of members from across the world, as well as drawing interest from retailers wanting to advertise on the network.

"The Social Network, a recent film about Facebook, has made people realise the power of social networks. My belief is that the future lies in focused networking communities, rather than catch all’s and phpFox is such a platform that empowers businesses and individuals to do this” said Matthew Slinn, Managing Director of Perceptant 101. "Max spotted a gap in the market and went for it. We helped him realise his dream, within 6 weeks of him contacting us, which if I’m not mistaken is faster than it took Mark Zuckerberg and the original team to build the first incarnation of Facebook".

The history of The Queens Club
Established in 1886, The Queen’s Club was the first multipurpose sports complex ever to be built, anywhere in the world. The Club offers its Members the opportunity to play Lawn Tennis, Real Tennis, Rackets and Squash on some of the finest courts in the world.

The Club returned to Members ownership in May 2007 following a successful acquisition of a 120 year lease from the Lawn Tennis Association. The Club has been investing in its future and over the past five years completed projects include a new gymnasium, resurfacing of four artificial grass courts, refurbished Ladies Dressing Room, reinstatement of the Rackets Galleries and viewing areas, a new Terrace Room and the junior lawn tennis club to name just a few.
